Tell us your favorite thing about switching from a traditional salon to a salon suite.

Oh the freedom! To elevate the experience with what I can provide through just private conversation, music, the coffee I serve, the space to move around, the privacy. It just provides a more intimate setting, and with the distractions removed you can really focus on your client.

What made you want to be a stylist? 

In my life, I have had a lot of hair stylists around me. My aunt and uncle had a beauty school, my uncle was a developer of product back in the 70s. I’ve always been very creative. Every day is different, there’s nothing mundane about the work I do. And I get to do that every day, and it’s always different so it keeps my brain sharp. It’s something I always wanted to do, and then I went to a hair show in the 80s and watched my uncle up on the platform and thought, “I wanna do that!” and so I went and signed up for beauty school the next week!

How has working in a salon suite changed your business? 

I think my clients just so much prefer coming in here and having the privacy and the focus just on them. It’s more than just hair though, there are a lot of things that take place in this private space. They share their tough times and their great times. Having this space is really an honor, that’s how I feel with my clients because they love coming in here.

What drew you to The Suites Spot? 

I walked in and I was like “Oh my god where do I sign??”

What would you tell a friend who’s on the fence about renting a suite with us? 

I was personally afraid to leave a salon. I’m a very social person. I thought I needed that hustle and bustle and I realize that’s one of the things I love about it here, is that I’m able to breathe and I really did not need all of that. I get enough of it chatting with the hair stylists around but then I get to come back into my suite and take a minute. And I get to create the environment. The independence and not having to be beholden to anyone else are so great.
