Back To Work Checklist

We’re all eager to get back to work right now, and safety is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Follow this checklist to make sure you and your clients can remain safe and have peace of mind when you return to your studio.

Back To Work Checklist - The Suites Spot | #1 Salon Suites

Before You Return To Work

▢ Make sure your cosmetology license is current. The last thing anyone needs right now is a fine from the Board of Cosmetology! Now is the perfect time to make sure all of your paperwork is up to date, so you can focus on your clients’ needs instead of whether your license is current when you get back to work.

▢ Check your insurance policy. While making sure it’s up to date, ask your provider about disaster relief coverage. Certain plans and providers may provide coverage to pay your rent in the event of disaster.

▢ Touch base with your client base. Remind them that you’ll be back to work soon and ready to fix whatever quarantine hair they’ve given themselves! Start scheduling first with clients that had their appointments cancelled in March and April, and then follow up with others who are due for a touch up.

When You’re Back

▢ Sanitize! Between clients, wipe down your styling chair, shampoo station, vanity, and all of your tools. Don’t forget other commonly touched surfaces such as sink faucets, light switches, door knobs, and the temperature control switch.

▢ Wash your hands! Whether between clients or not, wash your hands at least every 30 minutes. Experts recommend washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds before rinsing. Tip: Keep hand lotion nearby to prevent the dry skin that can result from frequent hand washing.

▢ Schedule breaks. Leave a window of 5-10 minutes extra between clients to allow yourself time to sanitize, and to prevent overlapping of clients.

▢ Make your clients feel safe. In the privacy of a salon suite, you don’t have to worry about germs from other stylists and their clients. At The Suites Spot, we have plenty of parking, a dedicated WiFi network just for clients, and individual temperature control to help your guests feel comfortable.

▢ Check in with your clients. It’s in everyone’s best interest for people who are sick to stay home. Consider waiving cancellation fees for clients who cancel if they’re not feeling well.

▢ Check in with yourself. Pay attention to how you’re feeling, and stay home if you feel under the weather or if you feel that something isn’t right. Your clients will appreciate it, and your body will appreciate the rest and care.
